How To Play
Ambiguity is a solo brainteaser of common knowledge. See below for multi-player "Collection" game.
Words without context have multiple meanings. Use your deduction skills to put the right words in their proper place to solve each game.
• Is BOSS a job or a brand name?
• Is CROW a tribe or a bird?
• Is BEETLE a tool or an insect?
• Is DRIVER a job or a golf term?
• Is OKLAHOMA a state or a movie?
• Is CLUB a weapon or a place?
• Is COOKIE edible or on your computer?
Components
• 24 two-sided word cards with 192 words
• preprinted initial challenges
• unlimited challenges on the website
• online web apps.
Goal
Relate words on cards with categories.
The tricky part is that you may only use one word from each card.
You will be presented with a set of cards and clues.
The cards have four words each.
Each word belongs to at least two categories
Your job is to figure out the context.
Solve a challenge by picking the one word from each card that matches each clue.
For example, figure out whether MUSTANG refers to a CAR or a HORSE.
Is the context of BARREL a CONTAINER or a MEASUREMENT?
Does TIN refer to the periodic table or a can of food?
These examples are the types of challenges you will need to resolve.
Setup:
Select a challenge (below or from a PDF). Grab the indicated cards.
Tip: layout all 24 cards in order 2 4 6 … 48 for quicker selection between games.
Solo Game Play
Review the clues and examine the words on the cards.
For each clue, pick a word (only one per card).
In your mind, connect the words with the clues.
Rotate the cards such that the connected word is at the top of the card. After laying out all your cards, if all the words match their respective clues, you’re done. Otherwise, reexamine and realign the words before consulting the solution.
